they use satellite no hotspot from what I remember
TomTom LIVE Services requires an Internet connection to connect to the TomTom servers to receive Live traffic and Speed Camera information. Some live traffic information is also available from FM traffic channels, the Classic FM one I believe. (not the RDS TA service) My understanding is that Kia closed this route a couple of SW updates ago. So for LIVE data you need either hotspot connection or Kia Connect, if your car supports it.

I remember turning on my live services in my 2015 renault and it gave me info but maybe not live info? But I remember it updating roads constantly so I turned it off
Google maps beats sat nav free too

Its up to u bro it might work buying live services it might not. It cost £5 per month or £24 a year. U could probably find a discount code somewhere. I reckon it would work. Google maps is better bro

After back and forth with TomTom over a few days this was their answer. Since new I have had a WiFi dongle plugged into a 5V USB adaptor in the front cigarette lighter, thus leaving the USB free for phone etc. This gives an in-car WiFi hotspot. The SatNav connects via this to the internet hotspot. The SatNav connects via this to the internet

So what r u going to do

After Easter I will go back to KIA, they gave me a ticket ID so I could come back and report how it went. It can take 48 hours to get answers if they have to consult with engineering
I think you are confusing some of us about what your exact problem is.

You said you were getting a message that your licence key has expired, which from all understanding would mean the TomTom servers would not serve you LIVE data (speed cameras, road works & congestion).

Then you indicated that you installed a standalone Hotspot in the car and, If I read your posts correctly, you now get LIVE data. There would be no difference between a standalone Hotspot and one on your phone (assuming your phone plan allowed data sharing by Hotspot - as some don't maybe that was your initial problem?)

I, for one, am confused as to where you are and what you expect TomTom / Kia to do?

Hes chat with kia cs and tomtom and say they can't help now he says hes got a support ticket from kia probably getting his renewal subscription? They will probs tell him to renew it on website.
When I had tomtom it gave me warnings when my subscription was going to end. He will probs fix it. Oh my days 🙄😔

Well I give up - I was trying to assist Radiorail because I had the exact same problem in restoring "Live services" on my in built SatNav. I don't want and I suspect nor does he, any other SatNav's, phones or other equipment that I didn't have for the last 7 years. Please only reply if you have this car and have the same issue that you want to discuss and please read all comments before replying and don't reply if you have nothing useful to say. This forum is here to help us all, which is what I am attempting to do -( edited by iooi as post refering too, has been deleted)

@Michaelk999
Can I suggest that you refrain from any further responses in this thread. You are doing nothing but confuse the situation, as your posts are coming across as exactly what you accused the OP of. Which is out of order & post has been deleted.

You have also not responded to my PM of which post you requested deleting in this thread.

If you have nothing helpful to say, then say nothing (y)
