Thanks.
Wish kia would get better servers. I could download a couple of films in the time it takes to download these updates.
What happened to over the air updates?
TBH, takes as long to transfer to USB, as the actual download.

OTA only for MY22+ & you have to agree to T/C & only get 2 free.

Best guess this is yet another bug fix, rather than a navigation update. As it has fixed a issue of the App not showing car mileage.

Yes, it took a long time to download the update also here in the Netherlands, 3,5h(!) with max. 2,5MB/s ... then transfer to my USB-stick 1h (it's an old slow one).
In the car I used update after switch-off so I had not to wait. After 45 min I got the message on my phone, that the update was successfully done.
Only the versions of the software and the firmware has been changed not nav and maps.

Why doesn't the Kia navigation update site show that latest version? I'm only going to try updating a couple of times a year given the trauma over my first update. Such frequent updates are indicative of poor software engineering by Kia.

I seem to be having a problem with copying from pc to USB.
I download ok but then comes the problem. I get the page that say copy to USB

but clicking on copy to USB it goes back to download page again

It shows the USB (J drive) but instead of coping it starts to download again.
Any ideas anyone.

It does on this page,

But the front notification page is never updated...Which is bad.

But at least we get bug fixes.. Rather than being left till the next navigation update.

TBH, does anyone release software that does not require any bug fixes or in computer speak "Updates"

Did this to me too. Thought it was just me as downloading to PC then USB while watching TV and thought I must have pressed the wrong button. Did the second 30 min download and that time it completed ok. Going to update car this morning.
I’ve done it 3-4 times now even uninstall program and reinstalled it. Deleted all the downloaded files. Still doing it.

Try going into settings on download app and change the save location to the USB stick.
Thanks but didn't need to.
Finally got it sorted. For some reason the program wasn't copying to the USB. So I did it manually and tried it and it worked. Strange thing though It took longer to verify than to install in the car.

Copying to USB has taken longer than installing on both occasions I've upgraded

Just run the new update.

Took about 40 mins.

So i have the USB loaded up ready to go. Do I need to switch on my MY23 HEV 4 and then wait until it tells me to turn off? I have asked Kia Customer Support about leaving the car on who said he would go away and try to find the answer. Finally I received this.

The update will not drain the battery
Just keep the engine on for 30 min
I asked our support team for you
But he said that will not drain your vehicle battery

Does this jive with your experience?

I had mine updated last week (for free) by my dealer due to various problems reported here. The Service Manager says updating the HEV 'can be difficult' so he does the update with the car on and turns on the aircon to ensure the engine runs most of the time. He advised not to turn the car off.

I just start car, insert USB. It starts process & asks if you if you want to start after turned off. I just select this option & turn car off.
Never had any battery issues.
Even if you did, in a HEV you have the battery reset option.

Sadly my experience is at odds with the "Service Manger" in the above post.

I note you have the previous version of the Niro. The Service Manager did manage to update my car whereas advice here to turn it off did not work.

Did you find out which USB they use?

I know you have had issues & the dealer has updated for you. I still think the issue is the USB.

Given yours is a new Niro. They would not have had to update many, is any at all. Given the last (so only one for your car) update was in November/December.

As well as it is known that dealers are directing people to self update given the time it saves then for the ÂŁ40 Kia approved cost.

Would be interesting for you to try the update that has been released in the last week with the engine turned on to see if it works, with your USB stick (y)

The Service Manger advised he used his own drive which is a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 512GB and differs from the two sticks I tried. I might get a 64GB+ version of that drive to see if it works when I try an update.
