Hi Martin hopefully the cable should sort it, only way of knowing is when you get it and try it.
If no joy after that then your dealership should sort it out under warranty, possibly it needs resetting as you suggest.

Hi I tried Using Flash drive on telly recording it would not work. Took Flash drive to my computer man and he cleaned off the manufacturers gubbins and left it formatted ready for Use and works lovely now.
My car was used but it came wit cable in bag for plugging in, but mt salesman deleted old phone accounts and installed mine so it works Bluetooth hands free.
Hope some of what I have said helps It tome ages to sort out the USB Problems. Not related to the gadgets used on.

Cheers guys Ah yes, apparently they no longer supply the cables with the Soul 2014 onward? The dealer even checked all the other Soul's in their garage and alas, no cables. It's a conspiracy I tell you.

The warranty is something else I love about Kia. Peace of mind.

I'll check the flash drives are formatted correctly again, but given they aren't receiving any signal, I'm unsure if it'd work. Thanks again for the help guys

 

No amount of formatting will get flash drive to activate until cleared completely and the reformatted
Once clear most gadgets can then access to use there own formatting.

USB drives have protected information filing devices built in this has to be cleared.

MartinI've tested several iPod models & USB Flash Drives in my Soul Mixx (09/14) & all worked well.
Some of my iPods are quite old but all at their latest Software Level. I've used the standard iPod cable plugged into the USB port & then hit Media. You should see Kia stuff displayed on the iPod display. All USB drives were at FAT32 with MP3 files.
I leave an iPod permanently connected & covered with gloves or a cloth when I leave the vehicle.
I'll take a look tomorrow & see if I've missed anything which may help.
However, it pays to work through things logically.
Find an iPod which works & stick with that initially.
(PAL/NTSC are TV signals for Europe/USA & irrelevant for iPod/Flash Drive Audio)

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply also!

I've tried my own iPod Classic, my wife's iPod, and two of our flash drives, and still, nothing. The iPod's don't display anything, nor does the head unit. The activity lights on the flash drives never even blink or illuminate, and the USB option on the head unit is always blanked out. It's as if the USB slot is dead altogether.

When anything is plugged into the AUX slot, you can barely hear the music play through the constant choppyness, so there's some connectivity there, but there appears to be something very wrong going on behind the scenes.

I thought I'd give resetting the head unit a go, but it's doing nothing. It's retaining all the settings and isn't resetting to factory settings like it should as per the owners manual. I've tried numerous times. I wonder if disconnecting the battery for a short while will have the same effect?

Hopefully the cable arrives over the next few days to confirm that the ports are inoperable and i'll get back to the dealer. Just wish it was a simple fix!

Martin if your USB memory stick has Vault protection and or filing system in them they will not be accepted by the cars music system hence as not accepted light will not come on.
Plug stick into computer to check for installed software. No amount of reformatting will remove.

I phones is usually out of date SIM card.
A new updated SIM card should solve problem and also there is an APP that will allow you to use you steering wheel controls.
This information is second hand and not from personal experience as with previous post so please check out before splashing cash.

Well I had a quick reread of the AV Manaul to see if there is something blindingly obvious which I've missed. There isn't.

So to recap:
- try a couple of fully charged, unlocked iPods
- try a couple of regular iPod USB cables
- use the USB port
- start the engine
- cross fingers & toes

If no joy then get the Kia Dealer to run the appropraite diagnostics & check that it's at the latest engineering level.

Hi guys, and many thanks again for your replies, it's very much appreciated!

I received the cable, and just as i thought, it still didn't work, so I called the dealer (Kia Arnold Clark) and explained the issues again and went to see them.

Long story short, of all things, it was a loose connection in the back of the head unit

They managed to fix it there and then in no time at all, and furthermore even offered to get me a refund on the cable they suggested I purchase, but they didn't realise it wasn't an official Kia one, but a cheaper one I got off of Amazon instead. Still though, nice of them to offer... I was pretty impressed!

Turns out all new Kia's don't require the special Kia iPod cable, just the standard iPod USB cable to get full connectivity.

So, thanks again everyone for the help! I can't thank you all enough
