Hello, This is my first post here.I purchased my Sportage GT S Line Diesel Engined car brand new in January 2020. I lost the car to Kia for over 8 weeks last year with the dreaded belt tensioner problem. That was resolved by an engine rebuild and a new crankshaft. Today the car developed a loud screeching noise when decelerating which soinds like it is emanating from under the centre of the car. At first I wondered if it was a stone trapped in a brake disc which I have seen before. Looking around the car I couldn't see anything untoward. I have noticed however that the noise happens when decelerating. Looking at the power icon on the dashboard it is pulsing when the light is indicating blue. The noise goes as soon as the throttle is reapplied. Has anyone else experienced this? I will be contacting my Kia dealer in the morning as it is still under warranty.

I had the same issue and had it checked it turned out to be a problem with the crankshaft which they replaced. This was back in May, they also replaced the clutch!! There is only 31,000 miles on the clock. I have driven the car since and all was well till yesterday when the same noise has returned!! Booked in again!! Kia know about this problem but just wait for the problem to arise and repair when it occurs.

Having said that I refer you to the other replies, it almost certainly the Tensioner Issue which is effecting the 1.6CRDi mild hybrid. It is a known issue and Kia have recently launched a fix with some redesigned parts. This post is worth reading through.
