Our Niro 3 HEV has been 'alerting' us to random 'things,' that are not even happening. I have had two 'warnings' about needing to rest/sleep. The first one was after a shopping trip of about three hours at Telford, whilst on the way home. We were already on the M54 heading toward Shrewsbury (before the next junction, Telford and Wrekin Retail Park) when it just blurted out that I needed to rest. Having achieved most goals of the shopping trip I was feeling quite pleased with myself so I doubt my eyes or head were drooping.
The next one was only on the fourth of October, after pulling out of our drive and hadn't even reached the bottom of the road when it told me again that I needed to take a rest. I don't recall the exact words but it would be more welcome if one was actually tired and not feeling pretty good. My wife looked at me and burst out laughing, telling me that my face was a picture. Apparently I looked like I wanted to thump the dash...
I might just try to record these events, written, with as much other information to see if there is a pattern. Not expecting any replies but will, when I get any more 'events' record them here.

The forward camera is always monitoring the road ahead. You will get the take a break warning if you stray across the white line a few times. I only get that warning if I take the racing line on quiet roads. Ensure the windscreen where the camera is mounted is clean.

As you can see from the picture, there are no lines on the road. That is one of the places where the warning was given. I don't make a habit of weaving about the roads, except to avoid potholes, and most of the roads I use I know where they are, so it's more of a gradual 'shift,' as opposed to a swerve. My windows are kept clean before setting off anywhere and have for a few months now been keeping an eye on the screen sensor. Whilst doing that I wipe down the lights, number plates, mirrors and rear camera. A lot of farm traffic brings all sorts onto the rural countryside roads here.
I will now keep a more watchful eye on such things as straying over the white lines, and keeping things clean, as finding out why it does this is important to me. As most of the things that have happened are generated by sensors I will also be reading the manual about what affects them.
Thanks for your advice.

I get these "take a break" warnings at random times - sometimes after an hour or longer, sometimes after about 10 minutes. My wife experiences the same in her 6 month old (2025) PIcanto. We have both learned to ignore them. annoying as they are. (When I asked my local KIA dealer for an explanation, they had none, which is no surprise).

I agree, there seems to be no sense in this 'safety feature.' Having driven down to Wiltshire from south Shropshire, as well as to Kent (near Gravesend) and did not receive any 'take-a-break' warnings -once strayed up to a three hour stint as we preferred the next 'pit-stop.' I can see the point of these systems for road and driver safety, but when it seems to be giving a warning on a random basis (to those of us having experienced its random alerts) it appears to just be a nuisance.
Perhaps those of us that find this irritating, or any other feature as irksome, maybe keep a little log of such events and report back on here. :coffee:
