Hello Kia owners. Having question about backup lights. Bought just new pair of 12 Volt 16 W W2,9,5,5d light bulbs.
The fuse B /UP 10 A is intact. The black and white wire comes to the lamp base.

They are not working at all even brand new ones. Need to take a closer look in daylight.

Is there some kind of Reverse Light Switch in gearbox? If there is, where is it located?

Since I don't have an electrical diagram for the Kia Sportage 2008 manual transmission model in question,
I wonder if someone could kindly tell me where to start looking for the problem?

It took quite a bit of force to remove the switch 😠
Obviously the original light switch.
I had to use a 24 mm deep socket wrench to remove it.
The optional light switch requires a 22 mm deep socket wrench.

Kia Sportage 2.0L L4 DOHC 16V 4WD / 5-Speed Manual. Model year 2007/2008

The reverse light switch can be found under the air cleaner housing.

Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp bolt with a 10 mm socket wrench or
some other suitable tool.
Open the clamps (clamp plates 4 pieces).
Remove the cover of air cleaner and air cleaner filter.
The air cleaner body (housing) is attached with two 6 mm metric bolts.
Remove bolts with a 10 mm socket wrench.
Lift away carefully air cleaner body.
Move the housing to the left towards the ignition coil.

Switch for reversing light lamp(s) is located on top of gear box.
You need a 24mm socket to remove the switch.

Obviously the original light switch.

In my case an aftermarket reverse (back-up) light switch required a 22 mm deep wrench.
