As I understand it the batteries in the Kia are from a different manufacturer

 

Another Kona EV owner, a 35-year-old engineer surnamed Lee, said the software update had substantially reduced the battery's charging capacity and he will never buy a Hyundai vehicle again.

Seem to remember that the charging rate was the issue with another Hyundai that had battery issues.

Users want faster charging. So manufactures push limits. Sadly too far at times.

So it will be interesting to see how both the new Kia & Hyundai that are quoting charge times from 10-80% in just 18 minutes fair.

Pretty sure Hyundai sources cells from LG, Kia uses SK cells
