the 12v system repeatedly goes flat as the cam is never truly off.
that would also be the case for any other device that is not removed from a USB or cigarette lighter outlet when the car is switched off.

Dashcams that are never fully off but reamin in parking surveilance mode can easily flatten the 12v battery in an ICE vehicle, especially if there's rain falling or wind in trees which constantly activates the camera to film. It would be safer to plug the camera into a large USB power bank.
some of the 12v to 5v power supplies for dashcams cut out at about 10.8v to protect the battery, but that's a bit low.
 
That would tend to say that they are either not picking a fuse if hard wired that goes off when car is powered down, or if using the 12V socket. It is live all the time.


I had a blackvue front and rear dashcam professionally fittedwith a controller fitted to prevent battery drainage.
