I have a Kia picanto 09 plate, I've owned it for nearly 4 years now. Whilst out driving today I pressed my clutch down to go into 3rd gear and the clutch pedal felt a bit hard. Then as I was changing gears the engine was revving loud and I was pulling off slow like there wasn't much power. Rac came out and told me my clutch is going. The garage told me a new clutch will be ÂŁ285, but not sure whether to get it fixed or not because in the last 2 years we've had nothing but problems with the car. We payed for new springs/new electrical wiring to be done/the oil had a leak, so we paid for that too. Plus when driving my car I press my foot brake and get an awful squeaking sound from the back. Wish I never bought this car. Now debating do we get a new car or this one fixed? Has anyone else had the same kind of issues with their picanto? Thank you. Gail

As a ten year old Piccanto owner I would ask what is the milage and has it a service history , at a dealer? Clutches do wear out but have never had one before 100,000 miles and that was after teaching three children to drive in it. If it is only the clutch I would have it repaired . The rear brakes squealing, I hope you have not let the pads wear away to rub n the disk? I presume you have current MOT. They are simple repairs - to me anyway. I would keep it if the miles are reasonable ,mine is 46,000 and I've had it from new with only problem an ABS sensor rear OS. As it is it is a scrapper really and you will get virtually nothing for it.

ÂŁ285 is a good price for fixing the clutch. Just get a specification of what is going to be replaced to ensure that the necessary new parts will be installed.
Post and ask here if you are not sure what a clutch repair workshop is offering.

Whatever the squealing is, brake parts are cheap. Any replacement vehicle you would buy most likely would not come with a garantee on the brake consumable parts so you may as well get your vehicle fixed.

For those 2 expenditures there is a good chance you will have a car at least as reliable as a similarly aged replacement.
Can I ask Gail, why were the springs replaced?
