Clutch issue

I had a remap of my sportage last year which increased the torque & bhp. I have not really noticed any difference in fuel consumption which was why i had the remap. It was supposed to increase mpg by 10 - 20%. It seems to make no difference. My son occasionally borrows my car & reckons the clutch is slipping. Can the increased torque make the clutch work harder ? Would i be better off having the remap reversed & put back to standard ? Also if i had a new clutch is it always necessary to have the dmf changed ?

My personal view is that you don't get something for nothing. The engine would have to be seriously detuned to start with for a 20% improvement in fuel economy without a corrosponding 20% decrease in performance or something. Of course it is possible that a remap improves some of the parameters set from the factory on what are now quite old cars, but I'm still sceptical. Also, the increase insurance premiums (if you told them) or the risks of them not paying out (if you didn't), just don't make it worth the hassle unless you have a sports car.

You don't need to change the DMF with the clutch, but you may as well because in the c80k miles before you need a new one again, the DMF might well fail. No point paying for all that labour twice is there?

Just my 2p.
