Brake lights always on

The brake lights did not turn off yesterday and have been on constantly whenever the car is running. I'm sure it's not a feature :)

My dealer has changed the brake light switch at the brake pedal today, but with out success. And they are not really sure what the fault might be. Maybe issues with wiring or the fuse box.

Any good ideas that I can pass along to them? Thanks! :)Edited by: ThomasDK

It is still at the dealer. I do not want to drive it with the brake lights on - it don't think it's safe.
And might also be illegal :)

Just an update, if anyone else should see the same fault.

A new fuse box seems to have solved the problem. The dealer told me that they had replaced several of these on the new Cee'd, so maybe it's a weak spot...

Well, the fault returned so the new fuse box did not solve the problem. So if anyone else has a similar fault, here is what seems to have solved it for me.EDIT: As another fault besides the brake lights being always on, the cruise control would not set the speed.

2 things were found which the dealer sorted out.

The clock display on the dash had some faults that the workshop computer discovered. This is apparently a known error, so it was replaced with a newer and better version. A lot of wires etc. go through this display and it could be the cause of some/many other errors.

Secondly water was discovered in a connector by the clutch pedal. See the attached picture.
It was completly wet along with the wires around it. So it was dried and sprayed with 'connector spray' (not sure what the english word is

)How water ends up there is still a mystery. It could be a leak, condensation, air condition etc. But I'm now keeping a close eye on it.

Another - and hopefully the final - update:

Turns out there is a leak at the bottom of the front window. Probably it has not been glued correctly at the factory, so now it will be taken out and put back with new glue.

So if anyone notices that the white carpet-like material seen on the picture is wet: Get the front window tested for leaks!
