I bought my 68 Picanto GT-Line S in January and during the first 'hoover out' of the front passenger kick plate area, I found the trim panel had been cut at some point and the cut out then covered in black tape!
I've replaced it now for one from the Netherlands for €30.
I'm still curious as to why on earth anyone would think it's a good idea and why it was necessary?
Any ideas?

Maybe running a cable under it? Perhaps an add on reversing camera or power to a rear dash cam something like that?

I thought along those lines, but it seems like a bloody great big hole and in an odd place 🤔

Maybe it just got caught and snapped, so a cover-up was needed.

Probably done by a 'professional amateur!' They are the worst type, they have learnt everything they know from a bloke down the pub (although these days it is probably from Facebook/Twitter).

somebody was trying to run a cable and broke the trim trying to get it off.
