That happens with my digital key
Some days it's super sensitive and opens from a great distance. Other days it fails to open unless I place my phone by the drivers door handle. You did say if you are using a digital key or fob.

If you don't like the doors opening automatically On Approach, it's easy to switch it off from the Settings under Doors.

 

Up until last Tuesday, my digital key worked flawlessly, since March when I got the car,
I would get as far as the front door & the car would unlock before I had stepped outside.
Now it continuously logs itself out of the KIA App, so if its logged out won’t open.
Sometimes will not lock or unlock on command from the App.
And I suspect it all revolves round the update that its been downloading for days now.
Really annoying.

 

Digital Keys via the phones UWB radio does not need access to the Kia app, they are standalone.

 

You are absolutely right. I have had he car about 10 mnhs, whether it is going to own a hit & miss. Sometimes have to put the Kia card near the reader to start. Phone connection to open didn’t work at all a month ago and whole system had to be reset at Kia with help from mai Kia tech dept.

 

I carry the key fob in my pocket. Auto unlock always works perfectly. Never missed a beat in 8 months.

Yes same here. I only use the fob,and the touch bar on the door handle but I find it very temperamental.The auto unlock when ive got the key fob in my pocket works about 75% of the time, but the touchbar works less than 50% of the time.
Lock and unlock always works ok when pressing the buttons on the fob.
I dont have the "key" set up on my phone because I am having problems with the blue tooth being unreliable.
