Good afternoon,

I am trying to find out if my Kia Rio 1.3 LE+ 54 Plate has a water pump that is driven off the CAM Belt or if it is driven from a different system, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi Rob, the water pump is driven by the auxiliary belt (fan belt) and not by the cam belt. Cheers

Cheers Phil, great news as I am having the CAM Belt, Brake Pads and Disks and also a Full service done next week by the local Croxdale garage and he said if it does not need a pump it will of course be cheaper.

Because of the work involved in removing the auxiliary belts to get at the cambelt it is often a good idea to change a suspect water pump at the same time. If the pump is good however leave well alone.
I've had my '05 Rio 1.3 Le+ for 3 years now and have no intentionsof changing it anytime yet. It cost me £3000 from my local Kia dealer with just over 6000 miles on the clock, the best motoring bargain I've ever had! Now covered 51500 miles at an average of 45 mpg. Cheap motoring!!
