Just driven from NW UK to southern Spain and back using only Tesla Superchargers. I used over 20 different ones and whilst most are the newer versions, there were one or two that had the older, shorter cable As in the photo above.
Apart from stopping at one in the UK, similar to the one on the photo above, it was impossible to get close enough as they had large rubber stop bumps which prevented the car getting close enough.
Didn’t matter though, as I’d accidentally chosen one that did not accept non Tesla vehicles anyway. (Warwick services N). I did manage to park parallel to the charger with my front right wheel on the rubber stop bump to get it plugged in (it was 2am and empty) but as soon as I tried to start the charge, the app wouldn’t let me because it knew it wasn’t a non-Tesla location. Doh!
Didn’t matter though as there was one 13 miles murther up the route.
For anyone planning a trip of over 500 or more miles, it is well worth paying the ÂŁ8.99 for a months Tesla subscription as the savings will offset the fee and you will almost never have to wait for a charger.
