My old tyres, whilst perfectly legal were within 1mm of the tread wear indicators and were not good on mud or snow. So I've had a set of Rapid Ecosaver tyres fitted for a total cost of £360ish. Initial impressions seem very good. Good grip in dry or rainy conditions and they've made the steering lighter somehow. They're labelled as mud and snow tyres which has no legal standing but they're a more chunky tread pattern than the old tyres which were mainly longitudinal grooves.
