Hi. I have the 2019 Sportage and trying to get the steering wheel to lock before exiting the car can sometimes be a herculaneum task. Occasionally it locks quite easily but on some occasions it just won't lock. Any suggestions please. TIA
Dont worry about it, if someone trys to turn the steering any distance it will engage automatically. within the steering column there is a pin that engages in a hole (steering lock) when you remove the key the pin is often not lined up with the hole hence the need to move the steering before it drops in. if someone tampers with the steering as soon as the pin and hole align it will engage.
If you want it to lock you just need to learn the position the steering wheel is in when it locks and move it to that position before turning the ignition off. Should make it easier.
