The rubbery layer on top of the plastic on the arms of my steering wheel started peeling off this morning. Anyone know if this is covered by warranty? I was a bit surprised to get signs of wear on the steering wheel after only 9 months!
I have seen this on a few makes of cars not just on steering wheel but the door arm rests too. I would think that is a warranty issue as that is not reasonable wear and tear and looks like an adhesion problem of the rubber layer to the plastic trim. Obviously the plastic trim has not been etched to help the rubbery top coat to adhere properly.
Thought I'd update this post...
Had the third service recently and brought it to the attention of the dealer. They replaced it this week with a brand new steering wheel under warranty. They also changed the clutch pedal as the rubber on it had peeled off and also the rear seat belt, as it had started splitting.
