Hi All,

I have just had my 2005 2.5ltr diesel auto in for it's 70k service at my local Kia dealer. They have told me that there is an oil leak on the steering rack and that it will cost me 1800 quid (
ouch)to get it repaired.
Can anyone tell me, firstly , How serious is this , and secondly how can i get it done cheaper or is it something that i really need to leave to the main dealer.

Cheers,

Mack M.

Hi Mack

Ouch indeed .... Sounds like they are not repairing the rack but just replacing it.

Ask for a cost breakdown parts and labour ect.

I just had a quick hunt on the internet and found this site

http://www.partsgateway.co.uk/sitemap/kia-4x4-steering-racks.html

and a couple of USA sites advertising the complete rack for $400 - $500.

I would certanly get a quote for the parts and maybe try an independant garage for a quote.

Good Luck Martin
