Hi All,

Looking for some help, the starter motor has gone in my daughters 09 Picanto, had a quick look in the engine for it, what is the best way to remove it from the engine.

The car is turning on but when you turn to start the car there is nothing. At was a click at some point but that has now gone. You can push start it but once you turn the car off it won’t start up again

You don't say, but have you eliminated a dead battery?

It has a brand new battery in it. All the lights and power is working just the starter is not kicking in

Have you checked for high a resistant joint?

Check the battery earth to body connection and body to starter motor. Possibly will take enough power for lights but not enough to turn starter motor. This is a common problem on all makes of motor. Give connections a good clean and grease up.

And possiby also the starter solenoid. If you are unable to diagnose trouble then I sugest that taking it to someone who can (e.g. automotive electrician) is likely cheaper in the long run than randomly replacing parts.

Turn the headlights on and then try to crank it. They should dim but not go out.
