Sportage PHEV battery management system malfunction

Imagine it would be fixable OTA with a patch like any other software, but I’m guessing the need to visit the dealer for it is so they can clear the fault codes/ensure it’s actually fixed. Fingers crossed
OTA only covers head unit & navigation. It will have nothing to do with this error.

Nothing to do with ECU or other engine management systems, can be updated OTA as they are not connected to that side. They have to be done by dealers plugged into system.

Been having the Battery Management system fault since the June software update. Kia garage have asked me to take notes of when and how it happens, which I have. Doesn't appear to be anything but totally random. Weather, temperature, amount of charge in PHEV etc etc have all been different each and every time the issue occurred. This morning we have taken a major leap backwards.
Went to get the car out of the garage and the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree with the usual error lights staying lit as I pressed the start button. But this time it would not let me select reverse or drive just neutral or park and to make matters worse I could not switch the engine off either. Pressing the start button just caused a slight clicking noise but the electric power was still running. Strangely after spending 15 minutes inside the house trying to organize AA recovery the car switched off on its own and now works fine again albeit the battery management light on the dash. All the gears working as they should. The error lights on the dash will know doubt disappear after a few start ups... until the next time.
Waiting for a call back from the garage, 8000 happy miles until now.
That almost sounds like Zombie mode in a EV, but it could also relate to a low 12V battery. Do you have any way of measuring the 12V battery?

I take it that in the above case, car is set to EV mode. How does it respond if you start in other modes? (Not sure exactly which modes you have)
