Sportage electric handbrake design fault

Just out of interest how does autohold work. It seems to me that it keeps hydraulic pressure on the brakes rather than engaging the epb, as there are no whirring noises like there is when epb is engaged.....
Yep, that seems right. I use epb so that the brake lights go off.

2.5 years and aprox 25000 miles of mixed motoring in my 2019 1.6 tgdi 4 Sportage and I use auto hold all the time, but use epb when in traffic and no problems whatsoever. It's only a small switch, but treated with care, there shouldn't be a problem. It just needs lifting, not dragging.
