Hi Everyone, I have a 2013 Kia Sorento KX 2, 2.2 diesel Automatic AWD, done 90k miles and the 4 wheel drive has stopped working. The propshaft is not rotating so appears a problem in the transfer box? Is the activation in the transfer box simply mechanical or is it electrically operated similarly to the clutch in the rear differential please? Whilst still operating the vehicle, can more damage occur inside the transfer or gearbox please? I would very much appreciate anyones views please. Many thanks, Robinette

The box is purely mechanical and is gear driven. If the prop does not turn this is usually gears or splines worn. Drain the transfer box fluid and look for metal filings.

Many thanks, that confirms our suspicions,..just surprised never heard any grinding noises etc. Thanks again Birdman
