I have recently bought a 2007 Sorento XT 2.5 Turbo Diesel (170 bhp) Auto and although pleased with it both solo and towing, Ido not like the fuel consumption figures. Can anyone confirm thatmy figures are good, bad or average.
Solo: 28.9 mpg

Towing : 21.6 mpg

I do realise that fuel consumption is dependant on the right foot, weight of caravan, tyre pressures etc but I would like to hear what others get.

Another question is: What should the tyre pressures be for 18" tyres fitted to my Sorento?

Tyre pressures are 35psi all round, no need to increase them when towing.
I have the same XT Auto and the fuel consumption is very simular to yours.
I tow 1700kg van and I do use the tip tronic box when towing to try to keep the revs at 2000, below 2000 it seems to struggle to keep the momentum and speed drops off.
Locking the box in 4th at 50mph keeps the car running comfortable, then at 60mph lock into 5th and it is nice to drive. it all saves the box serching for the gears all the time,so should keep the fuel flowing better.give it a try and see how you go.
