I notice there are suddenly adverts for snow socks all over. Asda, are selling a brand of snowsock for £35 pounds.

My question is, did anyone try these last year, if so were they any good and were there any problems with the sizes?
Ta in advance for any help anybody can give.

Snow socks are probably worth it if you don't do many miles and you are on roads completely covered in snow. You will be limited in the speed you can travel, probably no more than 30 mph. Not sure on how it will affect your insurance - best to check. You will have to remove them every time you get back onto a clear stretch of tarmac, or the sock will wear out.
The bestsolution is a full set of winter tyres and wheels, but that will probably set you back about £400 to £500.

Useful when desperate and lots of snow around, but not much use on icy roads that haven't been gritted. Just saw on the news some councils don't grit because of attacks on their gritters! What kind of moron would do that?

Snowchains
Europroducts has been selling snow chains and snow socks for over 30
years and looking back at the past two years we have had someserious
snow fall in the UK and abroad. Thus as a pre-season gesture we are
offering 10% on snow chains and snow socks.

From
experience, we know that there are many debates around snow chains
versus snow socks. To give a clear answer snow socks work really well
on snow covered road by sticking on to the snow generating friction
and grip. Snow chains though work extremely well on snow and ice
covered roads as they break up the ice and dig into to generate
traction.
