My wife had a collision with a perimeter fence just beyond a parking space. She was moving forward and feels at just the creep speed and on braking the car shot forward. She accepts she may have hit the accelerator instead of brake. In this scenario, where a petrol or diesel car would probably stall and engine quit, as soon as the fence was touched, the torque is such on EV car that there is considerable tendancy to do more damage that you would expect from such an error.
Any thoughts on this?

Yes. Don't let her drive it again! Any vehicle will surge forward in a low gear if the driver hits the loud pedal.
