Can somebody please confirm what the correct service intervals are. I understood from the Kia website that the car simply needs servicing every 20,000 miles or 1 year if sooner. However, the vehicle handbook states

10,000 miles or 12 months: Fuel additive added.
20,000 miles or 24 months: Fuel additive and service.
30,000 miles or 12 months: Fuel additive added.
40,000 miles or 48 months: Fuel additive and major service.
50,000 miles or 12 months: Fuel additive added.
60,000 miles or 72 months: Fuel additive and major service.
70,000 miles or 12 months: Fuel additive added.
80,000 miles or 96 months:Fuel additive and major service
90,000 miles or 12 months: Fuel additive added.
100,000 miles or 120 months:Fuel additive and major service.

and so on.

The service book provided with the car sheds no light on this. It seems inconceivable to me that the oil only needs changing every two years and I'm not too keen on paying someone to pour a bottle of overpriced snake oil into the fuel tank. I can do that myself!

My car has had its first service today and the oil has been changed but no addatives have been used.It seems services are an oil change minor service every 1st 3rd 5th etc with a bigger one inbetween.

It's bit odd but that's not what it says in section 7/11 of the handbook under "Normal Maintenance Schedule - For Europe". Maybe the UK is not Europe.

Kia.co.uk currently states...

I'm trying to understand this service recommendation. Is this 20k miles for an oil change?

I think a lot of the confusion comes from the fact that Kia changed the spec of engine at some point. When the facelift ceed came out the service interval changed from 12.5k to 20k miles. This was down to changing from cam belts to cam chains apparently. Personally I don't see why this would make much of a difference to the oil!

But the fact is, like it or not. Every year at most, your going to have to have a SERVICE not just an oil change...even if it's just for an inspection of certain items...and at a Kia garage too if you want your body inspection.....but if that's what it takes to keep the warranty intact....that's fine by meEdited by: RichieD76

My local dealer told me service every 20k miles but an oil change at 10k won't do any harm and may help residual value. For piece of mind and in an effort to keep the car in tip top condition I'll be going with the 10k oil changes for sure!
