In June last year I bought a (exactly)2 year old Carens 2l crdi from a Kia dealer. It had been owned from new by Kia so it seemed as good as I could get. It had 15,500 on the clock so I assumed it had had its 10k service at 10k and I was told it would need its next service at 20k as it would be fully serviced when I collect it. The salesman worked out the cost per month of servicing ( I pay in "advance") but still insisted it needed a service at 20k. After buying it I looked at the service history I discovered that its FIRST service was at 15,300!! Over 5000 miles overdue! Its second service was at 15,500, i.e. around 200 miles later. I complained to the salesman, saying things like "I thought turbos needed clean oil" etc but he was unmoved, and just said that it still had 3 years warranty. He did however recalculatethe service payments for a service at 25,500.
MORAL: Always look carefully at a service history BEFORE purchasing a car!
