Am in process of ordering new 1.7 diesel ... with a 5 year old and an absolute given that entry plastics with mark up very easily... I particularly wanted a set of scuff plates (or entry plates) fitted with my order.

Initiallysales guy at Cambridge said 'They don't do them for the Sportage'... to which I pointed out that they were both pictured in the back of the lovely little brochure they sent me plus listed on accessories via kia.co.uk....sales guy had are-think and came back tome saying'yes they do them but only for the front doors, but we can sort the other two out as an after fit'... grrr...again I pointed out the accessories listing detailed '4pcs' which I assumedmeant 4 piece set... I mean whats the point of having scuff plates just for the front, no logic.

This issue is actually holding up my order... as in me agreeing to order the new car.... yes I know its petty butas minor as it sounds the scuff plates are important to me because I know the damage my daughter can do with her size fives...

Couple of questions...

1. The Kia dealer service does worry me a bit... I'm buying a brand new car and the salesman doesn't know what's in the brochure... as I now understand it he is more the 'Mazda' side of the business... its one thing that puts me off about Kia, dealersgenerally sell other brands as well...Am I going to get a similar vibe/reaction if/when a problem with my new car... 'e.g.'I've not come across that issue before sir?'.

2.On the issue of scuff plates... I see state side you can order them with new but then you seem to be able to order a lot more options over there... but they are detailed in the UK brochure as an option and on the website. Has anyonehere ordered them with their new car? I could buy a set off the web and do myself.. but you know what?.. I want Kia to take charge of it and do it for me.. part of the 'customer service' in buying a brand new car... you'd think they'd want to impress meespecially as I've yet to formally commit to the £22/23k

Any-hoe any feedback welcome... and notice tensions running high on a few exchanges on other topics... hey... life's too short and we're all here to help each other.. right?

Hi Maximus,I am also thinking of having the scuff plates fitted to my (still awaiting delivery !!!) Sportage. I noticed that these accessories have always had a status of 'coming soon'. I do feel that as this is a brand new model, Kia seem to be having many problems 'delivering'. They seem to have rushed this car to market and have been overwhelmed by the demand for it - they are now struggling to keep up with demand and I suspect that the availability of accessories will come way down their priority list. The fact that Kia are also trying to bring 3 more new models to market this year, will only lead to further frustrations.
Regarding the dealers, I think you'll find that most dealerships today tend to deal with more than one brand don't know whether that's a good or bad thing :)

Although I put down a deposit on the Sportage back in October, the more I read on this forum, the more likely I am to cancel my order - but I'm sure all other manufacturers have their negatives too :)

Thank you Paul for link... I can take this and watch the reaction of my cambridge dealer salesman... although its clearly obvious I've got a Mazda saleman selling me a Kia so may well go to another dealer now.

Thank you Ray_r for link also... yes note the 'coming soon' tag and agree perhaps trying to run before can walk although you don;t actually see many new Sportages around at the mo... well not out east anglia way anyway.. I've seen three in three months... perhaps they're all still on order waiting for delivery.. speaking of which.. October?? jezus ... assume it must be 2.0 litremodelyou're waiting on, I would have gone for that myself but the '6 mths min' talk hasput me completely off... when you finallymake your mind up and order a brand new car, you want it practically yesterday.. and perhaps can at least wait until tomorrow... but6 months

I notice Hyundai are removing their production line operation from Kia'sbuild plant in Slovakia because they too need to 'get with the plan' because ix35's and alike are taking too long to deliver for customers... perhaps it will free up some capacity for Kia to do likewise!

My decision to buy hasgone fromX3 in Jan to Evoque to XC60 to Q5 to Evoque to Sportage... all with their own annoying factors

if your waiting for a 2.0 then drive a 1.7 hardly any diffrence except 1.7 fuel economy much much better to my knowledge hyundai dont build in slovakia factory. issue with 2.0 models is the engine supply and both kia and hyundai are resolving that with a new engine build facility but that will take some time to clear the back log

Hi Viking Paul... have looked in detail at that Accessory brochure, very interesting... are you sayingthat any listed on it can be ordered with a new vechicle regardless of country destination... or is there a 'per country' options available issue... I notice front parking sensors are detailed as an option which I have never seen before but would be very interested in to add to my inteded '3 Sat Nav' spec.

Cheers

Hi Paul, unfortunately my desire to have an auto with sat-nav dictated that I had to have a 2.0 diesel. My ideal would have been a 2.0 auto sat-nav petrol - but for some reason I don't know, you can't have this combination - so my hands were slightly tied :)
