We are a Diesel Tuning company in Ireland and specialise in Korean cars etc....please take a mo to read the link..as we supply Re-Mappable PowerBox which is remote Control....Special offer for Forum members. £229 delivered....
All the tuning boxes just "fool the common rail pressure sensor", some are just slightly better at it than others. If the pressure goes over the Kia threshold a fault will be logged and its then obvious to Kia that the car has been tampered with and its probably bye bye warranty.
On the old G o l f TDione certaintuning box used to fool the temperature sensor into thinking the engine was permanantly cold and simply enrich the mixture, hardly sophisticated electronics as often claimed.
This is not the case.....if you click on the link you will see the details of the PowerBox.
This is not as Paul describes...yes there are many boxes with just a resistor to fool the ecu, thats why they are very cheap....inside our PowerBox is software with 9 dedicated programmes for each vehicle..so you can adjust the powercurve to suit your driving style, either towing or solo. It can save you upto 20% in fuel.....Just the same as a remap...BUT, without removing the original ecu safety values, and 100% GUARANTEED IT WILL NOT RED FLAG ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE.....
Please read the information, technology moves on thankfully, thats why we offer a rolling 2 year warranty.
As a reknowned Kia owner/supplier we are not trying to fool anyone, just offer a great product at a realistic price. We have been developing this product over the past years and is a German best seller

<TD =style9 colSpan=2>The PowerBox Digital diesel performance system is a plug and play tuning system which uses mapping software to constantly change its fuelling parameters to suit the current application. The PowerBox System can compute and adjust its fuel mapping to a precise level and deliver a high quality performance. The PowerBox System can compete with "live mapping" whilst remaining removable and transferable to your next car. Installation of the system is performed using a quality wiring harness which simply plugs into existing connectors on your cars rail connection. The PowerBox is then stored within the engine bay of the vehicle, It is activated with a keyfob remote control, which can be turned on/off at drivers discretion and can be removed for servicing and warranty issues which instantly reverts the car back to standard without leaving a trace.</TD></TR>

If Kia find that one has been fitted the warranty for your engine/gearbox etc is lost, Viking Paul has confirmed this before. People often say that "I will take it off before it goes to the garage" but they can and do leave fault codes if standard parameters are exceeded, Kia dealers know what to look for. Imagine that wifey is out in the car on a cold, wet winters night on the motorway and the car breaks down. Is she going to stand there removing the box and wiring and reinstating the standard layout whilst the Police/Highways agency insist she leaves the hard shoulder, don't think so.
Bottom line is to get more power needs more fuel and to burn that fuel efficiently needs more air. Do these Tuning Boxes increase the tubo pressure to supply that air, suspect not. Been tuning non-turbo cars for years now and to get decent power increases costs £££££'s and much work, not as simple as fitting a box. Turbo petrols need bigger turbo's and actuators as well asre-mapsto get these type of power increases, some even need engine workto lower the compression ratio to avoid exploding.
When I bought the Ceed I made sure I had chosen the right car before I ordered it, better to do that than add a third party tuning device that may cause problems.
At the best part of £400 even with a 10% reduction in fuel consumption which I very much doubt is possible it would stilltake the best part of4 years to recoup you money.
It would be interesting to see if someone dynoed it as standard and then with a "tuning box" fitted to see exactly what the power gains are. I know from my butt dyno that my Rio diesel is quicker with the "box" than standard form and for 99 squidlysIMHO is worth it. Tho' an ecu remap would be better but it would cost £300 or there abouts.
Transporter74 car is well out of warranty being a 56 plate so no worries there.
You pay yer money and take yer choice as they say.
We advise customers to inform Insurance company and ask dealership if under warranty if they will accept PowerBox.
Yes i totally agree in an accident it is not possible to remove, although it only takes 5 mins, so its customer choice......
We sell PowerBox Systems to dealerships here in Ireland who sell them on at higher prices and stand over the warranty..so its not the same everywhere.......
As a customer once said to me....you can buy a £10 Coffee machine and you can buy a £200 One...niether are the same........
I am not getting into a war of words over the product....If our product did not meet customers satisfaction we would not be in business.........
Transporter, as you're outside of warranty, so long as you inform your insurance co., I say go for it.
The question is what is best value for money. Davy has used a Probitz box for over a year and has had good results, although he uses it only at a low setting. Paddywagon's box is more than double the price, but it seems as if you can program it on the fly remotely, which is a useful feature. But then, for about £300 you could get a bespoke remap, set up just for your particular engine.
My mates got a G O L F TDI and he has tried a box at £50 and found it did improve performance but after a while he got a remap for £300 and it goes a hell of a lot better. I would think the remap is the way to go but it is a good bit more expensive.
A Powerbox with 9 curves in it may sound wonderful but it is not a re-map developed by a reputable company over may hundreds of hours on the dyno. All it does is modify the Kia map for better or worse.
Just stating the facts i.e. a tuning box regardless of how many setting is not a re-map, people should know. Please do not threaten people, that is not good for your business, what do you do if people have a problem with your product?
It is yourself that is running down our product without understanding the make up of the product..i am not threatening you...just stating that it is incorrect to make statements that you can not support.
Our company has been designing Diesel software in Germany for 14 years for the Racing Compititions and test all software on the two in house Dyno's plus on the race track.
We also re-map the ecu directly, and Duo Tuningwhere both ECU is Re-Mappedand PowerBox is fittedand have full TUV creditation.
We have samples of most companies Tuning Boxes and they are all tested for thier values and performance against our own brand.
Our PowerBox, if you read the website information, is a Re-Programmable Powerbox, which we can offer the client a selection of different files to suit..these are down loaded into his PowerBox with the aid of an interface/software and each individual powercurve can be finely tuned to his driving style.
When the time comes to change vehicle, we send a new harness if required together with relevant new file for the new vehicle together with a new 2 year warranty. If you are in Germany we offer full Warranty insurance on the engine upto 150Kms for a nominal amount depending on manufactures model.
I rest my case, but i was going to offer you, foc, a PowerBox to try, but i feel this is not in your interests.
