Some interest tech under the bonnet, 'mild-hybrid' assistance on a new 1.0T-GDi engine and 'clutch by wire'. Elsewhere more gadgets and some restyling to see the model out. Official KIA article is here.

Also interesting to see a few weeks ago Hyundai announced new 160bhp 1.5T-GDi engine which will presumably make its way into the Ceed and Xceed when they come up for refresh. While replacing the 1.4T-GDi I imagine it will also see, sadly, the end of the 1.6T-GDi in the range.

Mild hybrid ( to be known as MHEV ) is just a ploy to fiddle the emissions so they do not get fined as much.

Make far more sense to go PHEV or HEV.

Agreed, it a transition solution. And average range emissions are why I think the 1.6T-GDi is on borrowed time. But I imagine small petrol cats are going to around until the bitter end, as hitting the price point of this sector (let alone the Picanto's sector) with existing PHEV technology is very difficult.
