Before I have to pay 300 plus for a new remote (l can still operate the old one with a toothpick !!), how can I open and lock the car using the key opening on the drivers door handle? The ignition key doesn't operate it manually.
I'm a new member and I apologise if I'm missing something obvious.

I have to apologise. The reason my ignition key would not manually open the door is because there was a partial obstruction stopping the key being fully inserted in the lock.
Obstruction now removed. The car is a Ceed 2.
