Hi All,

I came to unlock my 59 Carens this morning and the range of both remote key fobs seems to have gone down to touching the drivers side window.

I can still lock and unlock the car with the key, but it does seem odd that both keys should fail at the same time.

Anyone who can give me any advice I would be most grateful.

Cheers

Unlikely both batteries in the fobs die at the same time but you never know!

Sounds like the receive sensor may have rolled over& died, being a 59 plate it'll be under warranty so guess a call on Tuesday to your local dealer will be on the cards!

Interestingly this seems to have fixed itself!

I guess some water got into the system somewhere and has now full dried out!

Mine did exactly the same in the freezing weather to the extent it wouldn't work at all one morning and I had to use the key!!!

I looked in the drivers handbook to check on fob battery changing and noticed a list of reasons why the fob might not work. One of these reasons was very cold weather!! A new one on me.

Just a point of interest:

If you lock a Mk3 with the remote you can't unlock it with a key without the alarm sounding & it wont start as it's immobilised, you have been warned!
