I have a Carens on a 58 plate. When I depress the brake pedal, with the lights on, the brake lights come on but the back r/hand side light goes off. When the pedal isreleased the rear light comes on as normal. I suspect a short but has anyone any idea where to start looking?

Most likely the bulb is in the wrong way round or its just the bulb holder. also if you have a Townsend with electrics it could be that causing a problem

did you find out what the problem was, it does sound like the bulb holder or an earth faultsomewhere close to the light unit,

Yes I have managed to fix it although I don't quite know how. I was advised to start by checking that the bulb was inserted properly so I took it out and cleaned the holder. All seemed OK so I refitted the bulb. I then depressed the brake pedal several times and after 3-4 times the lights suddenly started to work as normal. I'm still keeping an eye on it but up to now there seems no problem. Thanks for your concern, Stewart.
