Will probably end up taking this to the main dealers, but before I do has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it. Moving the seat belt to different heights makes no difference. Noise is more louder when I start a journey
Thank you

There is not much detail in your post to offer suggestions in return but in my long experience with JA Picantos, overwhelmingly a rattle perceived in the cabin as coming from one side or another comes from the door cards (inner door panel) where it interfaces with the metal frame of the door itself.

In order to save costs in just an entry level car there is nothing more than a plastic bevel about 2 - 3 mm wide all the way around whereas the more expensive / luxurious vehicles in the Hyundai / Kia stable have much a large larger surface area that interfaces with the door panel. Simply through age and kilometres the doors only have to loosen up a little bit and you will get these rattles. The fix is easy if you have experience with vehicle trim and door removal but it does involve installing foam gaskets around the mating surfaces.

Another rattle source from the driver's side (right hand drive) can be the fuel flap release cable that runs at the edge of the floor undertray right along the edge underneath the wiring harness which is underneath the door scuff trim. It is actually just running "lose" at that point in the car whereas when it reaches the rear passenger cabin it is held down with flexible steel cable "ties" (though in my case I probably got a Friday or Monday car as the assembler simply decided not to bother tying one of the three down - at all....).

Anyway, there are other reasons for these rattles but if I acquired another Picanto tomorrow and noticed a rattle from one particular side or another these are the very first two things I would be looking at (though I can think of a few other sources of these rattles as well, though they are more involved to address though also easily addressable).

Our 2018 GT line S has a very irritating buzz/rattle that comes from the b-pillar right next to my ear. It sounds like a wasp trapped inside the plastic trim. It's only quiet but it winds me up no end. If I clout it it stops for a while but always comes back.

If it is coming from the B-pillar that can usually be fixed by carefully removing the interior weather strip surround (the one around the door frame, not the door itself) and then adding some very thin spacers between the "tangs" on the b-pillar trim itself and the metal body frame of the b-pillar (on both sides - the front side within the front door frame and the rear side within the rear door frame). There are a number of these tangs going all the way down the trim piece right from the top to almost carpet level. the only things keeping them butted up against the metal frame are the press fasteners and the interior weather strip itself. I used some cut rubber weather strip. And also if you can get to them adding felt "washers" to the fasteners will help as well since it negates any rattles coming from the fasteners themselves.

Failing all that sometimes it can be something very simple like lubricant required on the window channel rubber on the b-pillar end or even the weather strip itself can vibrate (the latter can be fixed with the semi permanent weather strip adhesives which are like contact adhesive that never fully sets - similar to what Kia use for the interior weather strip on the rear hatch (but nowhere else unfortunately).

UPdate When i open the rear window on the drivers side the noise goes away? I do like a challenge so will investigate further!

My bet is that it is still the door card. The window movement probably minutely changes the door tension on the frame which is (temporarily) enough to stop the rattle. The only long term 100% reliable fix is a thin foam gasket which requires the complete removal and refit of the door.
