Radio stations not changing See#44

How odd, somebody else with a Picanto posted a similar issue only a few days ago, unfortunately they have not returned to update us.
Does your car have a built in Kia sat nav? If so you can download updates form the Kia Navigation update site. If the car does not have sat nav any updates are done by the dealers. I can't comment on charges, that is something you would have to take up with Kia Customer Services.
You could try a reset. On most Kia media systems there is a reset button, it is hidden behind a small hole in the fascia, usually near the rotary volume control. You need to start the car and then gently push a pointy object into the hole and the system should do a reset.
Beyond that I have no idea.

If a reset does not fix it then it seems to me its a fault that has developed & the dealer should fix it under warranty not charge you for a software install.
I quiet agree. And it is worth remembering that the media system has three years warranty cover.

This might not be related, but I've been loosing DAB stations - on my hi-fi at home, both my tuner and streamer. In my case all the stations have been part of the Planet Radio group. The first I lost was Scala Radio and after some investigation I found out it's name had been changed to Magic Classical (seriously what a crap name). I had to delete my Scala favourite and redo it with Magic Classical. Then I had the same issues with Planet Rock, Absolute 70's, Absolute Rock and Great Hit's Radio, mostly it was redo my favourite, but on one or two the name had altered. Planet Rock (UK) has become Planet Rock.
It may be coincidence, but possible worth checking the stations list.

As far as Kia models are concerned this appears to be a Picanto specific issue (although I have had similar problems on my home DAB tuner, see post #12). If you are suffering this problem I suggest you raise it with Kia Customer Support, the more that do the more likely something will happen.

Same problem with DAB only playing a single station and not changing on my 73 plate Picanto 2 with a basic DAB radio. It started in September not changing channels on DAB. AM and FM are OK.
I think with DAB if it can't find the station your requested it defaults back to the last station you played. The exception id if the station is also on FM, in which case in some models if it can't fine the station on DAB it retunes to the FM version. Out of interest is it just from the radio favourites button or the station list? And is it all DAB stations on the station list?

Hello and welcome to the forum. You are not the only Picanto owner with this issue, there is a thread identifying the symptoms which suggests there is no cure at present.

@edkia - you have been given incorrect information, the media system has a 3 year or 60,000 miles warranty. This image is from the Kia Warranty Term and Exclusions:

As an aside, the may still quote a charge for diagnostics, however it should be waved if it is a warranty related issue. Frankly I think you would be wasting your time taking it in for a diagnostics, I would wait for Kia to issue an update, which should be due in the next couple of months.

@edkia - no apology necessary, you were given duff information by the dealer when they said it was a 2 year warranty. Keep monitoring the forum pages, the 'Head Unit/Navigation' section in particular. There will be one member who is quick of the mark and spot when a new update becomes available. Also keep an eye on the notifications page on the Kia Navigation Updates site for new releases.

Note: for information the navigation update packages can, and often do, include radio/media system updates.
