I have a power steering problem on my 2005 Kia sorrento.
It goes stiff , when you stop / restart the engine a couple of times it re-enstates .
I've noticed a component on the steering rack, and it seems that when you disconnect it the steering is heavy, reconnect it , it works fine .
Does anyone know what this component is? Or how I'd order one ?

these have speed sensitive steering, we had one doing this and it turned out to be the speed signal, it goes from the transfer box to the speedo head then it spreads out to other components,

I've already replaced the speed sender , still the same , any thoughts on what to look at next ?

Have you looked at the fluid in the reservoir? is it clean? simple to change and rule out the easy things first?

this one was the speed signal after it left the speedo head, the signal was intermittent, when you get up to speed the steering is supposed to go heavy, if the steering then looses the speed signal, as you slow down the steering was staying heavy, only if you switch off and restart did it reset to normal for a while.
