When driving at 70mph, I thought I would try to accelerate and it felt sluggish, once I got to about 4000rpm in 5th gear engine light came on. A quick check with ICarsoft showed the code P0170.. Been having some issues with not starting the first time and car spluttering when driving and was wondering if this could be a fuel pump issue. Also note that car drops out of first gear when driving around 70 mph then slowing , could this be linkage problem as the clutch seems good (have tested this ). Any ideas ?

When was the last FULL service ?
I would suggest that using first gear around 70 mph is probably going to make the vehicle want to EJECT the gearbo into orbit and is not a good idea

Last service was 2 weeks ago by the garage I bought car from (or so they say)
