What the P2015 code means

"The P2015 code means that there is out of range performance from the bank 1 intake manifold runner position sensor. When this occurs, the ECU detects the out of range performance as it is looking for a specific values and when they are not seen the DTC P2015 is set. This causes a failsafe mode to be enabled which will remain till normal operation is found or the code is repaired."

Has anybody else had this before?

Car seem to be running fine and the Check Engine Light went off by itself. I;ll clear the code and see if it recurs but just wondering if anybody here knows what would trigger this?

Have you got a Factory Service Manual or did you get the definition of the error online?
Manuals I have for other Cars contain Error Codes and Troubleshooting.

Most of the online results are for VAG Cars with worn Intake Flap Motor.

I believe the error is related to a Solenoid or Motor that moves a Flap to vary the Air Intake dependant on Engine Speed.
I think it is what Kia call Swirl Control Actuator. Have a search for 'Kia Ceed Swirl' on Google/Ebay.

The above is the result of curiosity and a bit of Googling !!

Well, tonight I got in the car (after driving for 20 miles or so) and headed out again and noticed the Check Engine Light was on...?

Just did a Torque code reading and it's the same P2015 code that was thrown up once more.

Car is driving perfectly and I can't feel anything different at all.

I've cleared the codes once again.

Decided to run out in the rain and take some snaps...

Looks like the most difficult thing will be removing the linkage to the inlet manifold?

I've lubricated both pivot points with a liberal squirt of WD40 as a temporary measure.

Will see if I can strip them down properly and use oil or grease later this weekend.

Checked that the flaps are moving smoothly (opening and closing) and all appears to be OK there.

Well, I went out this morning to have a look at the Swirl Control Actuator and to see if I could get it removed.

Then it started to rain...hmm.

Well I got all of the bolts undone and the only thing that has me stumped is how the arm is disconnected?

Looks like it's pressed on with a washer or suchlike?

At the other end - it looks like there's a split pin and a 10mm nut? To me that split pin and nut looks like it may well disappear down into the engine area, never to be found again! ;)

Any ideas or tips?

hello gtd 2000. The same error code has just come up on my sportage. every tie I clear the error it will come back on after a day. I decided to check the engine out particularly the air intake system. I dismantled the intake manifold and found that the butterfly valves operated by the swirl actuator were full with carbon and oil. I cleaned everything and refitted all back again. tried the car seem ok. Lets see if the check engine light will come back again.
