Once the throttle pedal reset is done they go well from a stand. Peppy engine with plenty of go. Particularly once it reaches 3000rpm.
What car are you coming from that may help understand why you feel disappointed.
Example, I came from a big and powerful diesel which had torque on tap. Driving a petrol again is different, it’s quick but doesn’t have the feeling of speed that a the old diesel had.

It seems the dealers don’t have a clue from everyone’s experience. But it does improve it significantly. @TLPower has fitted a DTUK pedal box, which have resoundingly great reviews on other models and seems a good bet at about £200 to improve things further.

Id suggest that pedal response, something like the DTUK device would liven things up.

The Leon is aimed at a more sporty and younger segment than I believe the xceed/Ceed/proceed are and that’s possibly why they are more tame on take off.

Hi RDC, I had a Leon 1.4TSi too, 122bhp, and after year of owning the Xceed id say the Leon was quicker, certainly quicker off the mark as the Xceed loves to bog down at the worst moments. This may seem awkward but i've been left for dead by several 1.5tsi Leon/A3 even though they have less power on paper. On the positive side the engine did loosen up about 8k miles and is quite flexible, but I don't think i've found all the 158 ponies as yet.
I'm finding the same that after 8000 miles its a lot more playful. Far more than I would have expected really.
