Hi all,


i've just purchased an '05 Sportage 2.0 Diesel XE



Is there anything in particular i need to look out for that breaks or are they generally a good car??



In additon, has anyone got any form of third party warranty on theirs?? If so, who with and how much

They are a good car. If you read through this site you'll see a that few common problems crop-up mainly to do with suspension bushes - but it's hard to know what % of cars this affects as you tend only to hear about issues. The only problem I've had has been with a sticky exhaust gas regulator valve which made the car a bit jerky around 1800 RPM. The valve was cleaned about 6000 miles ago and is still okay but I avoid cheap unbranded diesel just in case.


When I was looking at a 07 Sportage the dealer quoted my £600 for 2 years of insurance based warranty - not sure who with - in the end I managed to find a 08 model I liked/could afford which has the long warranty so it's not an issue for me.
