Took about 45 mins to update while powered off, so updating in the background. All I can see so far is an automatic update tick box has been added. This will allow OTA function, and you can schedule the updates to be done when the power is off.
You shouldn’t need the USB stick anymore unless it’s for something specific.
I don’t know if this has fixed the logic fault with the climate preheat or not, but I’m sure someone will find out soon

Kia's position regarding the various services seems confusing, at least to me.
  • Kia connect is free for 7 years
  • Kia live services; weather sports etc: free for how long?
  • Kia OTA updates free for the first two cycles (whatever that means, May 2023 and Nov 2023 I guess), Costs after that are unknown. However, one can still update manually for 7 years.

Kia stated last year that when OTA was introduced for MY22+ that there would be 2 free OTA updates & then a subscription model going forward, but no info on pricing. But you could still download & update yourself for free...

If you look stateside. They have a subscription model already. $19.99 a month $199 a year for the level with OTA updates.

Saw that last night - installing as we speak. It's bloomin' slow - took about 30 minutes to validate the files and another 30 minutes to get to 50%. It's about 39 GB in size.

I'm using an SD Card in a USB adapter though, so that could be causing the slow speed.

All the updates look cosmetic from the website, but would be interesting to see if sat nav and climate issues are resolved.

This may be of some help if you use a USB stick to update your satnav and having problems.
When I first tried to up date the satnav back in September I brought a PNY Elite Steel USB 3.1 Flash Drive 64GB stick and download the update as per the instruction. Plugged it in to unit and kept getting error unable to verify. After trying a few times and getting the same. I contacted Kia Customer service who couldn't help I ending up taking it in to my local dealer who did it FOC.
When the the new update came out I thought I'd give it another try. I got exactly the same message. I thought it's due for a service in February I would leave it till then.
Last week I thought I'd give it another try. I brought a new SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB 2.0 Flash Drive 64GB. Loaded the update on to it and plugged it in. Got the message "Validated update files...". After about 20 minutes got the message "Updating". Then took about another 3/4 hour to update. Now all updated and seems to be working.
Don't know if it was the the make or that it was the newer USB 3.1, but if your having this problem give it a try.

I normally download the update to the computer and then at the end it gives you the choice to unpack it to the usb drive. I’ve found it a lot quicker this way and I’ve got an old computer. It also gives you the choice to delete the download at the end. Keep it until your car has completely updated in case it hasn’t taken.

After the December update the Mileage/Odometer reading in the App was stuck on the reading at the time of the update. Before the software update it would update itself or failing that a refresh(via the icon in the app) would update the current mileage in the vehicle report section of the application. I don't know if it was related but in an attempt to try and fix I changed units to km and then back to miles and after the next drive it did update. Not sure if that was just a coincidence though.

Update: Interestingly the mileage has since changed back to the mileage at the time of the software update!

I guess we've been lucky. I took the software onto our Soul FE a few weeks back and mileage has been fine... in fact we had that "moment" crossing the 10,000 miles point in our Christmas travels!
Something which could be worth a try if you experience any odd behaviour after a new software install is to do a quick reset of the head unit.

Just checked the app after a short trip out. My Trips are still being recorded correctly, and the mileage on the car is updating correctly, but the odometer reading on the app is still showing zero. Nothing drastic, but does seem to have been caused by the recent update.
