New Rio generally very pleased except for selecting reverse. If in forward gear, clutch in, Iam able to select reverse gear but car will only move forwards. In order to reverse car, clutch in, gearstick to neutral, clutch out then clutch in gearstick into reverse then able to reverse vehicle.Suggest if test driving try reversing vehicle, you might find it a little too awkward

I have found this with most cars, the reverse gear is not syncromesh.
For the amount of times you reverse a car it is acceptable in my opinion.

If the gearbox and clutch are set up properly, you should not need to pump the clutch to get it into reverse.

Double clutching is needed quite alot on most kias as ther is no synchro for revers, the other trick is to hold the lever in reverse and slowly let clutch up, it slips right in no problem.

Almost no cars at all have a synchro on reverse and yet you do not need to pump the clutch. This sounds like bad adjustment to me!
