I am looking for a new car and I have managed to get my list down to 2, namely a Cee'd 3 1.6D, or a Skoda Octavia 1.6D.

Almost the same price, but im torn. I prefer the look and drive of the Octavia (I think mainly because I have an A3 at the moment and they drive the same) but the KIA has the warranty, better safety features as standard etc.

As we aim to keep the car for over 5 years, one thing that is bothering me is the servicing costs, the Skoda needs its cam-belt doing after 4 years which is expensive, but I believe the KIA has a chain - cam so it wont need this doing.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the servicing costs are like on the Cee'd, and are there any large, expensive ones that need doing?

Thanks.

Hi Chesterben

A tough choice there as they are both built well.

Although I do not have a Ceed (own Rio diesel), I can give you a rough Idea of costs.
On the Rio it needs servicing every 10k miles.
First service was £198 (mainly oil change)
Second service was £320 (every type of filter changed plus oil change)

I do not know the service intervals for the Octavia and the Ceed so you may want to look this up.

If possible could you arrange a test drive in both cars ?

Hope it helps.
