Yes she did indeed, what can I do to give Rio a bit more "life"?

Just spent over £600 getting it serviced but the 1.3L engine is just not
man enough for the size of the car, love everything else about the Rio
but the engine lets it down.

I know you can get go faster boxes for the Diesel versions however
nothing seems to exist for the petrol model, could I buy a second-hand
engine say a 1.6 and drop that in place of the 1.3?

Suggestions welcomed.

Induction kits with less flow restrictive air filters, sport catalyst (if it has one) and exhaust. Then have the engine remaped. Would recommend you do it all at the same time though. Doing one or the other may cause the engine to run rich or lean and cause damage to the engine. Plus it will provide the biggest gains. Just be a wear that tires, clutch, brakes, cv joints and other parts of the drive system will wear quicker so keep an eye on them also and that you will almost certainly void your warranty

Cheers Richie, the car is a 54 plate so no warranty.
I will talk to Team Valley Tuning and see what the cost would be.

There is a 1.5 litre Rio petrol engine, maybe try and get one from a scrappy? The 1.3 gives 75 BHP which is not bad, but it is quite a big body to lug around. I love the flexibility of the 1.3 though, you can put it in 4th at less than 20mph and it will pull away without complaining!
