Is the gear stick being able to rotate the norm for the vehicle?

All the gears are selectable just seems odd the gear stick can rotate.

The entire stick? Or just the gearknob at the top?

If it's just the knob then just turn it clockwise to tighten it?

No, it's more likely it is just the gearknob. In my Proceed when aligned as per the graphic it is a little loose and soon goes out of alignment again. Hand-tightening it means it is about 15 to 20 degrees off, which causes me irrational distress. One day, I may get round to putting a bit of Threadlock on it.

Make a packing with aluminium foil or soft plastic circles (hole punch them), to fit in the extreme top of the threaded section of the gear stick until it sits in place, aligned correctly. You will need approximetely one thread's worth of depth.

Unless the thread is actually stripped of course! Then it's Araldite and hope that you never have to get it off!
