As previously posted, I have brought a new special edition rio black diesel. Having driven it for a week, the only thing I can find a bit off putting are the gear changes, they seem quite lumpy especially going into 2nd gear. Is this common with rio's or has mine a problem.
As for the MPG I'm getting about 38 at the moment around town with a heavy foot.

I think all of the diesel Rio's are the same.

My car is a bit hard to get into 2nd gear also.
The test drive car that I drove was also the same.

I don't think its a problem thought, just a quirk.

I have also found that the clutch feels a little on the heavy side and sometimes the passenger can hear a slight 'clonk' sound when letting the clutch out.
I think this is because it's a heavy clutch (with a dual mass flywheel).

Yet again I think this is another quirk of the car not a problem.

As for your fuel economy, 38mpg isn't great.
What mileage is on the car.

When I got mine I was getting 46mpg but after 6,000 miles its now upp to 50 -55mpg (depending if I drive like an old fart).

I also brought mine new and at first the fuel economy was not good but this was also partly to do with my driving style.

So don't worry about fuel economy just yet.
You may find an increase after 3,000 miles, 10,000 miles (first service) and then between 15,000 and 20,000 miles (so I have been reading).

I can confirm the economy did get better for me after the first 3,000 miles
