Hello,

I have a 1998 Sportage 2.0litrepetrol which has developed a missfire at tickover and up to about 2000 rpm, above this it pulls fine.

I replaced the plugs about a weeke ago and the misfire went away but now it is coming back.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what it may be?

Thanks

Had a similar problem on one of my sportages. Only thing i did was change air filter and put some Redex in fuel. After about 50 miles things improved and fault has now gone. This has happened a couple of times and Redex has sorted it. Maybe injectors get a bit dirty and this cleans it.Worth a try for about a fiver. Buy from Wilko's, normally cheaper than auto shops.

Thanks for the reply. I have changed the filter and it cured the misfire although it still gives a cough now and again as you accelerate and starts to run rough when the engine gets warm in traffic etc. Got a new coil pack which I will fit in the new year as the problem is not pressing at the moment.
