hi i have a 2009 kia ceed 1.6 diesel its just started to lose power.
it starts ok you will be driving down the road and then you have no power at all no mater how far you press the accelerator. so i pull over and turn engine off and restart and every thing is back to normal. there are no lights on the dash. i have done a search and most people say egr valve has anyone got any ideas.

HI,
I have been having the same problem with my 2.0 crdi ceed which I managed to clear. Had the egr off and replaced but problem seem to come back. The cause I think is the Variable-geometry turbocharger sticks, this was caused but shorter trips and 50 mph roadworks which I stayed in 6th gear @ 1400 rpm. I always use shell v power in car so ruled out poor fuel, cured with a 40 minute trip each way on motorway keeping above 2500 rpm in lower gear ( Italian tune up). Not had a problem for over a year.
Worth checking egr first if easy to remove.
