hi - hoping I can get a bit of guidance/help from you lovely folk. I know nothing about cars and neither does anyone else in my family. I currently drive a 2019 Peugeot 3008 diesel, however I am having adblue/dpf issues and when I googled I found that apparently Peugeot were renowned for it. I am looking to change my car now before it starts costing me more money so I am looking at the sportage. I test drove a 22 reg gt line s yesterday and fell in love with it - gorgeous to drive and such a high spec. Having decided this is probably the car I would like I have found 2 - both same year and just £50 difference in price. One is 1.6 T-GDi MHEV GT-Line S DCT AWD Euro 6 and one is 1.6 h T-GDi GT-Line S Auto Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr. Having been burned by the adblue situation I googled for any known issues and arrived here having found the ppf situation. I drive mainly short distances but with at least 1 100 mile round motorway trip per week. I really fell in love with the car but I feel like I need a father/mother figure to be honest with me about how much of an issue it really is, should I be walking away and looking for a different car or realistically could this be an issue on any newer petrol car, should. Having seen people mentioning the issue on both hev/mhev versions of the car I am unsure if one has the potential to encounter it more than the other…..so confused….did I mention I absolutely loved the car 😃

Welcome to the forum. Yes the Sportage is a great car, we are on our third and love our HEV.
Yes the mild hybrid does have issues with the PPF which all well documented on these pages, although it does seem to have quietened down in recent months. I don't know if that because Kia have found a fix, or members have found ways to prevent PPF issues.
Regards the alleged PPF on the HEV, it is a rare happening, I suspect driving style has a lot to do with this. For me my car is 1.5 years old and my driving is mixed short and long distance and I've had no issues. I have found in suburban/town driving my car tends to run in electric mode, the engine only cutting in when I need more throttle or the battery gets low charge. Longer distances and the car will use the engine much more, but will still engage EV mode, even at motorway speeds.
To my knowledge I have not seen any reports of a PHEV having a PPF - that is not to say it hasn't happened, but it must be as rare as a unicorn droppings.
The Sportage is a great car and for me does everything I need it to and does it without any fuss.

One thing to consider is that you only have room for a spare wheel on the HEV and the petrol (non MHEV) this may be important or not to you. Make sure you get a full service history (booked stamped as per t&c's) so you can take advantage of the 7 year warranty. This is my third sportage, on my previous petrol with ppf i did 8000 miles without any filter issues mainly short journeys but i did adapt my driving style so the filter had a chance to self clean. On the petrol with manual gearbox i got 40mpg overall. locally low 30's motorway 40+ mpg. On my currant hev i am getting 50mpg overall over 3 months. (the right foot is the biggest influence on fuel consumption).
